本片由日本松竹电影公司于1979年拍摄，原著取自埃勒里·奎因的小说《灾难之城/凶镇》，侦探的名字也从埃勒里·奎因更名为罗伯特。 不过情节依然忠实于原著，并获得了当年日本学院奖和电影旬报奖（都是女配角奖，获奖者为小川真由美），该片首映时，丹奈（奎因两兄弟之一）还专程赶到日本出席仪式。在第四季（2021年）中，故事主线的审讯组意外解散，每个人被分配到新的岗位，各自踏上不同的道路。在此背景下，第五季将延续2022年新春特别剧，审讯组终于迎来久违的期待已久的重组。以真壁有希子（天海祐希饰）为首，管理官·梶山胜利（田中哲司饰）、玉垣松夫（塚地武雅饰）、菱本进（でんでん 饰）、小石川春夫（小日向文世饰）等审讯团队将面对系列史上最强的嫌疑人。。Heaven Condominium might seem like a great place to live, but it soon becomes the site of a horrible tragedy.
